The prestigious travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler published its “Top Hotels in the Caribbean and Central America: Readers’ Choice Awards 2017” list and Hotel Grano de Oro in San José, Costa Rica took second place in the list.

This boutique hotel received a score of 95.59 just behind Hotel Casa Palopó in Guatemala which received 96.79.
The list is a result of the reviews and comments given by over 300 thousand redears of Condé Nast Traveler.

Also included in the list but in positions 12 and 13 respectively are Capitán Suizo Hotel in Tamarindo, Guanacaste with a score of 90.57 and Peace Lodge, La Paz Waterfall Gardens in Alajuela, Costa Rica with 90.48.

This is not the first time the Grano de Oro Boutique Hotel is considered as one of the best hotels in the region; the original tropical Victorian home used to be the residence of the Pozuelo family,built at the turn of the 20th century, the hotel was started by a Canadian couple in 1991. Today it offers 40 rooms, a small gift shop and café; its restaurant is famous for its delicious French fusion cuisine.

Capitán Suizo Hotel is an environmentally conscious beachfront boutique hotel in Tamarindo, surrounded by nature. It is known by its great service and attention to detail.

Peace Lodge is in the area of Alajuela, very close to the Poás Volcano, a luxury mountain lodge where guests can enjoy the wonders of the rain forest.
