Other nominations in this category included Alta Gracia (Nathalie Peña Comas) Dixit Dominus: Vivaldi, Mozart, Handel (Jordi Savall), Horacio Gutiérrez Plays Chopin & Schumann (Horacio Gutiérrez) y Textures From The North Of South (In-Hong Cha).

This is the third nomination of the Costa Rican National Symphony Orchestra, the first time was in 2013 and a second time in 2014, but it is the first time it wins the famous award.

“We are very proud of having won the Latin Grammy for Best Classic Music Album”, was the post in the Orchestra’s Facebook page.

“This is the result of many years of constant work, tenacity and conviction that things can be different. An award of this level, I can’t just summarize it to a group of works, but everything behind this. As a professional it is an honor to have directed the Symphony Orchestra with works by so many different songwriters, having integrated those works in the repertoire of the orchestras I have directed in these years. This is a positive response to the work we are doing. From an emotional point of view I am trying to control myself so that nothing extraordinary happens, but I feel a deep emotion that is hard to describe”, commented director Eddie Mora.

The President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solis, twitted: “Very deserved, the Grammy for our National Symphony Orchestra in the classical music category. It is a unprecedented recognition that reflects the commitment of our country with culture. Congratulations!”

Costa Rican singer and songwriter Debi Nova was also nominated in the category “Best Singer/Songwriter Album” for her album “Gran Ciudad”, although she didn’t win her participation during the ceremony was well received, as she played the piano and sang “No nos sobran los domingos”.
