Costa Rican singer and songwriter Debi Nova; the National Symphony Orchestra and actress-singer Maribel Guardia are part of the list of nominees of the Latin Grammys 2017.
Debi Nova received the nomination for “Best Singer/Songwriter Album” for her album “Gran Ciudad”, “Thank you to the Academy, to Sony Music, and everyone that works with me, and everyone that listens and share my music. Gran Ciudad is an album I made with a lot of love… for it to be recognized this way I can’t believe it, Thank you!” expressed Nova through a post on her Facebook account.
The National Symphony Orchestra received its third nomination, this time in the category of “Best Classical Music Album¨ for the album ¨Música de Compositores Costarricenses, volumen 2¨ (Music by Costa Rican Songwriters, Volume 2) a production directed by Eddie Mora, with music by Carlos Enrique Vargas, William Porras, Carlos Castro and Alejandro Cardona. The album was recorded at the National Music Center in Moravia with 72 musicians and Cuban violin player Winnie Camila Berg as a guest solo artist. The Costa Rican National Symphony Orchestra was nominated twice before, once in 2013 and a second time in 2014.
On the other hand, Costa Rican actress and singer Maribel Guardia will compete in the category of Best Band Album for the production ¨Besos Callejeros¨ and is going up against bands of important trajectory in this gender in Mexico such as Banda El Recodo, El Chapo de Sinaloa, and La Original Banda Limón.
The winners of the Latin Grammy 2017 will be announced in a ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada, November 16.
