A total of 406 kilograms of cocaine were seized by the Drug Control Police in Costa Rica with a street value of over 12 million USD.
The packets of drugs were hidden inside a container in Puerto Limon, Moin, and which originated from Colombia.
The container was found on a routine inspection of a cargo boat of name “Nedeland Reefer” that originated from Puerto Turbo in Colombia, but was traveling with the Bahamas Islands flag. The ship had Guatemala as a final destination and was supposedly carrying potato seeds.
With this new case, the Ministry of Security closes the week with an important number of drugs confiscated.
Just a few days ago, authorities seized 300 kilograms of cocaine also inside a container aboard a cargo ship in the Moin Port, Limon; and in waters of the South Pacific a speed boat carrying over 1 ton of drug was intercepted on Friday.
So far this year, the police in Costa Rica have seized a total 7,226 kilograms, over 7.2 tons, of cocaine.
