The long awaited 560-page plus investigative report by U.S. Inspector General Michael Horowitz was released Thursday setting off a firestorm of political commentary from just about every talking head in Washington, DC.

One big takeaway from the report is President Donald Trump was 100-percent justified in firing former FBI Director James Comey for his “insubordinate” actions involving the FBI’s investigation of the Hillary Clinton email probe. Another takeaway is the top dogs at the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice before and after presidential campaign 2016 were extremely biased against the Trump campaign and the president after he took office.

Current FBI Director Christopher Wray has his hands full with restoring public confidence in the nation’s premier law enforcement agency – the FBI. The IG report listed five unnamed FBI employees that may face criminal prosecution pending further investigation. Among them is former Deputy Assistant Director Peter Strzok, who conducted the only in-person interview with Clinton who clearly received ‘hands-off’ special treatment in that this interview was not conducted under oath plus it was not recorded or transcribed for the official record. Even the number of people allowed in to witness this interview was purposely limited to only a few, according to the IG report.

What’s really embarrassing for the FBI and Director Wray is Strzok to this day remains employed with the FBI having been reassigned to the personnel department. Others directly involved with Strzok such as FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who was having an extramarital affair with Strzok, have resigned from the FBI in disgrace. The IG report listed phone text after phone text between Strzok and Page that showed extreme bias against President Trump before and after campaign 2016 and labeling Trump’s supporters as “idiots,” “retarded,” and “uneducated.”

To add insult to injury, it was Strzok that was the lead investigator – under Comey — into the FBI’s investigation into accusations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia that was taken over by Special Counsel Robert Mueller after Comey was fired. Mueller’s controversial investigative report is due to be released September 1.

President Trump’s legal defense team is headed by former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani who is now calling for Strzok to be fired and face criminal prosecution for his blatant bias displayed during the Clinton email investigation and the Trump/Russia probe. He is also calling for Mueller’s investigation to end with no interview of President Trump because Mueller’s probe was “tainted” from the beginning and is now “corrupt.”

The IG report was also extremely critical of former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and the now infamous June 27, 2016 tarmac meeting in Phoenix, Arizona with former President Bill Clinton at an airport where Clinton visited Lynch on her private jet calling the meeting a “serious error in judgment.” This meeting took place shortly before Hillary Clinton’s FBI interview causing a public relations nightmare for the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice. The appearance of impropriety became overwhelming for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and most certainly was one of the many reasons voters turned against her in November 2016.

The report did not address whether or not the Clinton email investigation should be reopened.

The main takeaway from the IG report is that it demonstrates just how corrupt the upper echelons of the U.S. Federal Government including national security agencies had become. This IG report is only the tip of the iceberg in uncovering the ‘deep-state’ mentality that came to a head in their efforts to deny candidate Trump the presidency and then efforts to derail President Trump after he took office.

“They were plotting against my election,” President Trump said Friday morning. “It’s an insult to the voters … the (IG) report is a horror show … I can’t believe Strzok is still working there … what he did was criminal … I think the Mueller investigation has been totally discredited.”
