The Ministry of Health of Costa Rica confirmed the 12th death in the country of a Covid-19 positive patient.
The deceased is a 64-year-old woman resident of San Jose, who had been hospitalized for 70 days and remained in the Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Mexico in La Uruca.
The woman had several underlying conditions that made her a vulnerable patient, she had high blood pressure, diabetes, and liver disease. She was diagnosed with Covid-19 on March 24 after entering the country from an international trip.
So far there have been 12 deaths in the country, 3 women and 9 men.
Just this Monday the health authorities informed of the death of a 26-year-old woman who was diagnosed post-mortem as positive with the virus. The woman arrived under very critical condition at the Guatuso Clinic on May 30 where she died shortly after. The autopsy revealed pulmonary edema and therefore the authorities requested a Covid-19 test to be done, the result was positive. Specialists are still running tests to confirm whether the death was caused by the virus or for a different reason.
