Another boat was stopped 55 nautical miles from the coast of Quepos, Puntarenas, carrying 1.3 tons of cocaine, confirmed the Costa Rican police.

The authorities received an alert and thanks to the patrolling operations they carry out with the support of the United States they were able to stop the boat with four men aboard, the captain identified with the last names Manzanares Gonzales, two men of last names Hernandez Gonzalez and the last one identified as Araya Linares, this last one has a criminal record for illegal possession of firearms.

The boat named La Pinta, is registered under the name of a man that also has a criminal record for breaking the Controlled Substances Law.

According to the Ministry of Public Security to far this year they have already seized over 26 tons of cocaine; as a matter of fact, just last Sunday a boat was also stopped in Golfito carrying one ton of this drug.

Costa Rica and Panama are routes commonly used to move drugs from South America to North America, usually combining several methods of transportation.
