According to a market report for Latin America and the Caribbean by air travel intelligence company Official Aviation Guide (OAG) Flightview, Costa Rica has the international airports with most flight cancellations in the region.

This study is carried out every month by OAG, a company based in the United Kingdom that provides analytical tools, databases and reports to assess air travel trends and provides information for international and domestic airports around the world.

During the month of May the percentage of flights cancelled in the Juan Santamaría Airport in Alajuela and Daniel Oduber in Liberia is of 10.2% and 13.5% respectively. These two airports are also in the bottom of the ranking for punctuality.

The Juan Santamaría Airport, however, also has the second biggest number of registered flights with 3,098; Panama holds the first position with 5,544 flights.
The Tocumen Airport in Panama is the best ranked in the Central America region in terms of punctuality, holding position 9 among all airports in Latin America and the Caribbean, and with a percentage of cancelled flights of only 0.4%.

When it comes to Latin America, Brazil´s airports are usually ranked in the top spots, followed by the Concepción Airport in Chile.

When compared to the results from the month of April 2017 the difference is not much, during that month the Juan Santamaría Airport had 10.6% cancelled flights and Liberia 5.7%; while in March the percentage goes down to 6% for Juan Santamaría Intl. Airport and 1.8% for Liberia; looking into the month of January, Liberia had a 2.7% of flights cancelled while Alajuela registered 11.3%.

Panama consistently shows up in the top ten places in the Latin America and Caribbean listing, usually ranked in the first five positions depending on the month.
