According to an investigation ran by local newspaper La Nacion, a total of thirteen Costa Rican soccer players are currently part of different Major League Soccer teams.

This small country has become one of the main sources of soccer players for the MLS in this 2017 season, taking the fourth spot in the number of foreign players currently in this professional soccer league. Argentina takes the first spot, providing the MLS with 26 players, Ghana is in second place with 15 and England with 14 is in third position; Jamaica and Brazil share the forth position with Costa Rica and Colombia takes the fifth slot.

In general terms, the MLS has a total of 67 different nationalities among their 22 teams.

This is the largest number of players Costa Rica has ever contributed to the MLS, part of this has to do with the good results obtained by “La Sele” during Brazil’s World Cup.

The 13 Costa Rican players currently part of the MLS are:
