If you stayed at home for this end of the year, but you want to spend the last day of the year or the first day of 2017 in good company and doing something out of the ordinary, we offer you four options of one day trips that you can enjoy in Costa Rica:

Colinas del Poas:
This mountain recreation center is located on the road to the Poas Volcano and it offers canopy tour, Tarzan swing, climbing walls, trout fishing, among others. The park is surrounded by nature and it has restaurant service. If you go early enough you can visit the Poas Volcano.

Marine Park of the Pacific:
Head over to Puntarenas to have a delicious ice-cone (granizado) at the “Paseo de los Turistas” and visit the only Marine Park in Costa Rica. This park features a sample of marine and coastal animals, a variety of fish, crocodiles and sea turtles are part of the exhibit; a pool, picnic areas; perfect for a short trip.

Charrarra Pura Vida:
Located in Paraiso de Cartago, this park is a great alternative for a family day trip, soccer and basketball courts, ATV track, picnic and BBQ area, restaurant, horseback riding, kayak, boat and Jet Ski rental. On the way to Charrarra you can also stop by the Ujarras viewpoint. Charrarra will be closed December 31st but the rest of the days it is open from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.

Doka Coffee Tour and La Paz Waterfalls:
Visit the Doka Coffee Estate in Alajuela, where you will learn everything there is about the production and processing of coffee. Afterwards you can spend the rest of your day at the Paz Waterfalls Gardens , surrounded by wonderful nature, and enjoying the magnificent animals of the wildlife refuge.
