It’s always fun to get out of the house and spend the day doing something different, but we don’t always have time or feel like traveling long distances, so if you are looking for some adventure and adrenaline close to San Jose, here are some adventure parks that may be just what you are looking for:
Turu Ba Ri: Located in Turrubares, Alajuela, less than an hour drive from San Jose, Turu Ba Ri is a theme park oriented towards adventure and ecotourism. Horseback riding, canopy, trails, aerial tramway, among others; the park is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monkeys, small wild animals and many different birds, are part of what you can see in this park.
Adventure Park: Open every day from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Located in the province of Heredia, specifically in San Jose de la Montaña, this place offers: Mountain biking, canopy adventure, hiking, rappel, educational tours, airsoft (a strategy military simulation group game, similar to paintball but played with airsoft guns that shoot non-metallic pellets), camping and trail running, you can also bring your pets for a fun walk.
Charrara Park: In Cartago just 45 minutes from San Jose, a beautiful place to spend the day with your family, 18 hectares of entertainment, including the Cachi Lake, this park has: basketball courts, bicycle rental, ATV rental, kayak and Jet Ski rental, flyboard (summer time), camping area, kids’ playground, climbing walls, boat rides, soccer field, pool, motocross and autocross track, among others.
San Luis Adventure Park: In the cloud forest of San Ramon, Alajuela, 1 hour and 30 minutes from San Jose, another great option to do canopy and rappel, trails, butterfly and hummingbird gardens and playground area for the younger members of the family.
