The Red Bull Arena in Newark, New Jersey will be the scenario of the Concacaf World Qualifying Match in route to Russia 2018 between the Costa Rica Male National Soccer Team “La Sele” and the USMNT this Friday, September 1 at 5 p.m. Costa Rica time (7 p.m. EST)

La Sele” left this Wednesday to New Jersey. There won’t be any major changes in the main line up as reported by head coach Oscar Ramírez. The national team has not won a hex match on American soil since the format was implemented in 1998. New Jersey, however, has a large “tico” community that is expected to come out to support the team.

When it comes to the USMNT, Bruce Arena is counting on the home advantage to get the points needed to secure its pass to the World Cup. Although the USMNT had a rough start in the elimination games, the team gave a turn for the best when Arena became involved. The US national soccer team just won the Gold Cup in July and is going through a great time.

Costa Rica is currently sitting in the second position of the group with 11 points while Mexico holds the first place with 14 and the US is in the third slot with 8 points.

After this match, La Sele will host Mexico at the Costa Rica National Stadium in September 5 while the US will travel to Honduras on the same date.
