This Monday, the different sports schools that are part of the Costa Rican Institute of Sports and Recreation (ICODER), will begin with this year’s FREE summer classes for kids and teenagers to enjoy during their vacation period.

16 different disciplines will be offered in La Sabana Park, including: basketball, volleyball, rugby, softball, cricket, soccer, hockey, jiu jitsu, gymnastics, athletics, table tennis, field tennis, judo, taekwondo, fencing and handball.

“We are offering a variety of disciplines to encourage students to practice, learn and develop in different sports”, said the coordinator of summer schools, Seidy Benavides.

The inauguration act will take place Monday, January 9th at 9 a.m.  and on this same day parents that haven’t registered their kids can check out the options and sign up.

Classes, which will extend for the whole month of January, are directed to children 6 years old and through the age of 16. Classes are under the direction of the different members of the sports’ associations.

It is important to mention that most counties have their own Sports Committee, which also organizes summer courses in each of the communities. All these classes are free of charge, and a great opportunity for kids to learn a new sport, exercise and socialize; not all counties have the same classes available, other disciplines can include: cycling, boxing, skating and swimming.

Contact your local Sports Committee for information on available classes in your community or you may also contact ICODER.
