The Drug Control Police found 250 kilograms of cocaine hidden in two containers that arrived at Moín port in Limón, this Saturday.

The investigations carried out by agents of the Drug Control Police (PCD) alerted them of a ship with a Panamanian flag that apparently was transporting several containers with drugs; the police therefore checked all the containers and found the cocaine hidden in the fake walls of both containers.

These 250 kilograms add to the more than 23 tons of this same drug that the Ministry of Public Security has seized so far this year, which exceeds the 19 tons that were seized last year.

“The packets found were marked with distinctive symbols, distinctive of the different criminal organizations. May times they use curious symbols such as soccer team logos, as we saw in this case, part of the packets that the logo of the English football club Chelsea. The Ministry of Public Security will continue in the fight against drug trafficking to increase public security in every province in our country,” informed the Ministry of Public Security.

According to the authorities a kilogram of cocaine is sold in the market for close to US$8,000.00
