The International Festival of the Arts 2017 will be taking place June 29th through July 9th, 2017, and for this year’s edition the Artistic and Cultural Production Center, part of the Ministy of Culture and Youth has opened the period for reception of proposals for participation in the XV edition of the International Art Festival (FIA 17).

The FIA is the biggest cultural and artistic even in Costa Rica, and it has favored the exchange between artists and cultural corporations, benefiting the cultural sector and becoming an engine of development for other areas of national production.

The current call is directed to artists and national groups of scenic arts, especially urban arts, including theater, street theater, children theater, puppets, dance, urban dance, aerial dance, circus, clown, storytelling, magic, multidisciplinary formats, music, parades and performance.

The FIA17 will also present a selection of international artists.

“We want city that is alive, where each selected public space is an encounter with art. Based in the new trends we are betting on the FIA surprising from an urban point of view, developing in unconventional spaces that are available to all Costa Ricans”, said Ada Acuña, director of the Cultural and Artistic Production Center.

“For the Ministry of Culture and Youth, it is very important to continue strengthening the FIA and the strategic effect of this event in the development of the sector, as well as assuring the quality of the event for the enjoyment of the public, while we support the city’s dynamics and the appropriation of public spaces”, indicated Sylvie Duran, from the Ministry of Culture and Youth.
