Yesterday we reported the first victory of Costa Rica in the Vissla ISA World Junior Surfing Championship in Azores Islands, Portugal, as Aldito Chirinos (Sub-16) took the win in round 1, heat 3. Today female competitors in sub-18 category Leilani McGonagle and Emily Gussoni got first place in their heats in the first round, sub-16 participants Zulay Martinez came in 2nd in heat 10 which allows her to also classify to round 2 and Coral Wiggins was third in her heat which means she is going to repechage.
Oscar Urbina and Malakai Martinez managed first places in their heats in category Sub-18. Malakai had a score of 9.43 in heat 19, while Oscar in heat 15 scored a 7.6 Both surfers also have participation in Sub-16 where Oscar Urbina also came out in the first place of his heat with 9.66 points.
