The Westin Golf Resort & Spa in playa Conchal, Guanacaste, was recognized as Hotel of the Year 2017 in Latin America and the Caribbean by the prestigious Marriott International Excellence Awards.

Among the 30 hotel brands that are part of the chain worldwide, the hotel was elected for the first time, after becoming part of the Marriott chain of resorts last year. The growth of the report since it opened in Playa Conchal in May of 2011 as well as the achievement of different goals set are part of the reasons Westin Playa Conchal was awarded the recognition.

The Westin Hotel became part of the chain in 2016 when Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Marriott International merged. The hotel had already received a recognition for its strong community service program. It is also the only ¨All Inclusive¨ hotel of the Westin brand and it has become a model of operation within Marriott International.

The Westin Hotel has also taken their commitment with the conservation of the environment seriously and through different sustainability practices they are now certified as carbon positive. Their community service is also one of their strengths, they generate jobs in the region and work with the National Learning Institute (INA) in the training and development of talent through dual education programs, which in 2016 trained over 150 students.
