As The Costa Rica Star has reported, many communities in Costa Rica have been affected by Tropical Storm Nate, with the provinces of Guanacaste and Puntarenas reporting the largest number of incidents.

In Miramar, Puntarenas, according to a report by daily paper La Nación, the Aranjuez River devastated the town of Bajo Caliente, where there used to be a church, a soccer field, a community center and close to 40 homes now there’s only water and mud.

One of the biggest problems is reported in Zona Sur, the Southern Zone of Costa Rica, where several landslides (at least 15) have affected the road known as Interamericana Sur (Cerro de la Muerte) and also La Costanera route.

According to the transit police, a portion of the Interamericana Sur road is completely destroyed in the Kilometer 38, there’s no connection from the area known as La Cangreja to El Empalme.

A bus with ten passengers had been trapped in the area since Wednesday night and they opted to walk for two hours to be able to get help.

La Costanera on the other hand was inaccessible 4 kilometers before the entrance of Parrita, community which was also badly affected by the rain.
