Costa Rica is a very small country and if you are the kind that likes exploring the many wonderful destinations the country has to offer it may seem that you’ve already ran out of places to go, but don’t be fooled, there are many small corners that you have yet to discover.

Just thirty minutes from the center of Heredia, where the weather is cold and the air fresh, you will find the small town of Sacramento, a hidden gem where you can find the peace and quiet you’ve been longing for. At the slopes of the Barva Volcano, this small town has lots of natural beauty to enjoy.

Here time seems to slow down, the few people (under 300) that inhabit this beautiful location seem to know something the rest of us don’t, they don’t seem stressed or preoccupied, they are content with leaving a slow-paced life, enjoying the fresh air, the surrounding green and just life.

Sacramento in San José de la Montaña, Heredia, has amazing views of the city, its an ideal spot for a half day tour. If you like typical Costa Rican food, you will find very good restaurants at affordable prices where you can warm up with a delicious fresh brewed coffee or agua dulce, a churrasco, fried plantain, chicharrones or different “gallos” (tortillas with different food, from sausage to picadillo de papa).

For those that are constantly looking for adventure there are horseback riding tours, hiking tours and canopy.

Sacramento’s small houses and kind people make this a charming and great place to visit in Costa Rica.
