As it had been informed by the National Meteorological Institute, a cold front entered the country on Saturday night and has affected mainly the province of Limon with heavy rainfall and strong winds, these conditions are also seen in the different beaches in this province which currently present strong swell.

Route 32 which leads to Limon, and route 10 which connects Turrialba in Cartago to the province of Limon are currently closed; the first due to several landslides that have occurred as a result of this meteorological phenomenon, and the second because a landslide caused a tree to fall over the electric wiring and brought down two light poles.

Route 10 is expected to reopen before noon time.

Several communities in Limon are flooded and families had to be evacuated.

According to the Fire Department, through 8 a.m. this morning they had received 14 emergency reports, mainly tree-falls, landslides, floods, teared roofs and short circuits.

In the Central Valley it was the area of Santa Ana that felt the strongest winds which reached a speed of 90 kph (56 mph).

The National Emergency Commission maintains the green alert for the Caribbean, the Zona Norte (North Zone), Sarapiquí, North Pacific, Central Valley and Central Pacific.
