The 8th Edition of the Copa Summa, or Summa Cup, one of the region’s most popular golf tournaments will be held Friday, April 28 at the Cariari Country Club, with a 7 a.m. tee time.

The Cariari Country Club in Ciudad Cariari northwest of San José near the Juan Santamaría International airport, and situated on a former coffee plantation, was the first 18-hole golf course built in Costa Rica.

The Summa Cup, organized by Central America’s Summa business magazine, has an entry fee of $90 which includes breakfast and an awards lunch. More information is available from Karol Murillo at [email protected] or at 2258-6834, ext. 216.

Desgined by George Fazio and constructed by his nephew, Tom Fazio in the early 1970s, the 71-par Cariari course was the only champion layout in Central America for nearly 20 years. The course is located right by the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cariari whose guests can register for tee times.

Home to multiple local and international tournaments, the course measures 6,577 yards from the longest tees and offers stunning views of the Central Valley Mountains.

The Summa tournament will offer a US$10,000 hole-in-one prize, as well as a first prize for the top score, and first and second prizes in three different handicap ranges.
