Located in the province of Alajuela, La Fortuna is one of the most visited regions of Costa Rica. There are many reasons for this, and a few of them are eloquently explained in this video, which was recently shared on YouTube by a traveler who had quite a blast visiting La Fortuna and the Arenal volcano.
The fun in La Fortuna begins with getting there. In this video, you can appreciate driving into town and waiting for livestock to be herded across the road. Next you will see just how much fun you can have on a four-wheel All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) before visiting the waterfalls and later getting into some whitewater rafting. Then it’s off to visit a folkloric restaurant where they take food preparation very seriously, and you get to be part of it.
The rest of the video is a five and half hour road trip to Manuel Antonio in the Southern Pacific region of Costa Rica, stopping by the Tarcoles River to check out the numerous caimans (please be judicious and respectful of wildlife in this spot) before partaking in some zip line and canopy action; the best way to get very close to the lush forest.
It is important to note that this visitor in particular retained the services of an experienced tour guide in Costa Rica, and this is often a smart way to make the most out of your vacation in La Fortuna and many other special places in our country:
