SIGN UP FOR OUR The Nutcracker has become a highly-anticipated event every December in Costa Rica. The famous presentations of this classic ballet will extend from December 2 to December 11, this time at the Melico Salazar Theater (traditionally this show has taken place at the National Theatre).
A show specially designed to be enjoyed by the entire family, is directed by Patricia Carreras and former first dancer of the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) New York Wes Chapman, and will offer several performances:
Saturday December 3rd : 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Sunday, December 4th : 6 p.m.
Tuesday 6th through Friday 9th: 8 p.m.
Saturday, December 10th: 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and
Sunday, December 11th: 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Prices range from ¢19,000 colones (around $35) to ¢32,000 colones (around $60).

The Nutcracker is an independent production that includes kids from 25 different ballet schools in 30 different regions of Costa Rica, this year the show will present 5 different casts with the ideaof giving opportunities to more dancers, in total there will be almost 300 dancers taking part of this year’s shows. The cast includes in the main roles, talented Costa Rican dancers Mariana Lizano, Camila Fernandez, Mariana Palazuelos, Maria Jose Leon, Susana Salazar, Nicole Jop and Raquel Muñoz, and they will be joined by Aslan Karginov (Saint Petersburg), Michal Stipa, Jan Fousek and Jonáš Dolník (all three from the National Ballet Theatre of Prague) and Steven Melendez (first dancer of the Theater Ballet of New York).
