Supported by a good crowd of fans, Costa Rican Hanna Gabriels successfully defended her WBO/WBA Female Super Welterweight Titles.

Both fighters came out punching the moment the bell rang, Spence perhaps was bolder and more aggressive not considering the distance when facing a taller Gabriels and walking into some unnecessary punches.

The second round it was mostly Spence that looked for an opportunity to land a lucky punch, unfortunately for her she was not efficient, she wasted a lot of energy early on, and Gabriels throwing less punches was more effective.

Anxiety got the best of Spence in the third and fourth round, the Costa Rican took advantage of her opponent’s mistakes, kept focused and moved and landed when she needed to.

A lot of hugging and clinging during round five and six, a breathless Spence quickly ran out of resources.

The rest of the fight became one-sided; Spence was not able to capitalize on Gabriels’ defense errors, and at the end Hanna’s experience paid off, she was clearly superior and came out victorious by Unanimous Decision win with scores: 99-91 in all three cards.

Natasha Spence showed courage and heart, but came up short in her boxing skills and game plan.

Hanna danced and celebrated her victory along with all the fans that showed up to support her at the BN Arena in Hatillo, San José, Costa Rica.

“After so many years of not fighting in Costa Rica, I never thought I’d have this kind of support, thank you everyone for your support, God Bless you”, said Gabriels after the fight; “I’m going for more!“, she concluded.

This win brings Hanna to 17 wins 1 loss and 1 draw.
